Getting started with Events
To make events, you'll need an Event Category to store your event in. Click Event Categories in the top menu bar to create a new event.
Event Categories
From this page, you will see a list of your existing event categories, or it will be blank if this is your first category.
Click on New Event Category to get started.
If you want to make changes to an existing category, simply click edit to make any changes.
Next, you will need to give your new event category a name.
Type your category name into the Name text box and click Create Event Category when finished.
Events
Next, click on Events in the top menu bar.
Here you will see a list of all of your events, or it will be an empty list if this is your first event.
New Event
To make a new event, click New Event in the top menu bar.
You can now add all of the information for your event.
- First, from the dropdown menu that has placeholder text saying Primary Category, select the category for your event.
- Choose a list view image to be attached to your event List View.
- Give your event a name and URL. The URL will show up when the event is clicked, so be sure to give a name that is relevant to the event, or category.
- Add a short description of your event. This will appear in the list view of your event and will help people understand briefly what will be happening at this event.
- Select the location of the event
- If there are a limited amount of seats or tickets for this event, add the maximum amount to the Available Seats form field.
- Add the start and event date and time of your event.
- If the event is a recurring event, you can select that as yes, and also set up an auto-schedule.
- Lastly add the price, and the member price (if different than the original) or mark the event on sale if you so choose.
Event Design
Once you have added all of the information for your event, you can add additional events for the detail view.
To add image(s) to your detail view click Add an Image.
You can select more than one image at a time!
Finally, you can add a longer description of what will be happening at your event.
Publishing Event
Once you have added all of your content, click Update Event at the bottom menu bar to save your changes. Then click Publish Event in the top right-hand corner to make your event live. If you don't want your event to appear live just yet, click close and your event will stay as a draft and you can publish it later when you are ready.
The events follow the same pattern as pages and stories for their different states!
