Stories Overview
Stories offer synopsis (list view) and full article views (detail view), or a synopsis linking to a website page. The stories engine allows publishing unlimited stories anywhere on your website.
A story can encompass various content types like articles, case studies, recipes, video training, or blog posts, utilizing synopsis and full article structures.
Customize the story experience design and organize stories by categories. They serve as a means to deliver relevant, timely, and evergreen content to your audience.
Anatomy of a Story
A story is made up of two parts: a synopsis and an article.
The synopsis (list view) includes a story cover image, title, and optional short description, category, and story type.
Detail View
The article (detail view) includes the story title and article content which includes text, images, video, audio, etc.
Story Info
Story Info is where you will create your story synopsis and add the cover or thumbnail image.
Primary Category is where you will assign your master category and any other category you want your story to appear will be assigned in the Story Categories section on the following screen.
Story Page
A story page is a page where story components have been added. Stories won’t display unless a component is added to a page. See the Adding Stories to a Page section below for more information.
Story Category Component
This component showcases story synopses from a selected category. Any stories added to this category will automatically appear in the component.
Add the story category component to any desired page, then select the category of stories you want to display.
Story Detail Component
This component displays the story article detail page. Once you add the component to the page, choose the category of stories you would like to appear.
Accessing Stories
You can access stories in multiple ways.
From the Menu, open the Stories dropdown menu and select Stories
Story Home Screen
The story home screen is where you create and organize stories and story categories.
Use the search bar to locate stories. Create categories to organize stories by the category. Sort stories using the Story State tabs. Use the Story Bar to organize stories up and down within the category.
Story States
This red color indicates a suspended story, this will not appear anywhere on your site. You can activate it at any time.
This blue color indicated A Draft story. This is a story that has not been published. It is not live on the web.
This striped blue color indicates that the contents of the story have been modified, but the changes won't appear live as it has not been republished.
Story Bar
If at any point you want to activate a suspended story, click the 3 dots at the right side of the story and click activate.
- Shown above are the controls for your story. If you need to change the information shown in the list view click on settings.
- To change the categories click categories in the expanded menu, accessed by clicking the 3 dots.
- To change the content of the detail view, click Design.
- To Review, click review.
- To Remove click remove.
Editing Story Categories
Organize your stories into categories. Your stories will have an All Stories category by default. You can assign stories to any number of categories and one master category. To add or edit Story Categories - click Story Categories
New Story Category
To add a new Story Category, click new story category and fill out the information in the form.
To edit the information of an existing story category - click edit on the category you wish to edit.
Sorting Stories
To sort the stories within a specific category click Sort Entires
From there, drag and reorder.
On your live site, stories will appear from top left, to bottom right.
Filtering Stories
If you have a lot of stories it might be helpful to sort them. You can do this by selecting a category from the pulldown menu.
Adding a Story to your Page
To add a story to a page drag one of the story components into your page. Then specify which story or stories you would like to appear.
Story Detail
Story Master Page
If you have more than one master page and would like a specific story to be rendered with that master page, you can do so in the Story Collections page.
This will be found at the bottom of the main menu under Account & Settings > Story Collections.
To make a new collection, you can click New Story Collection.
To adjust the settings of your story collection, click on settings. Switch the Master Page if you want a different page than your default.
Story List View Aspect Ratio
On this same story collection settings page you can adjust the aspect ratio of the list view image, add a call to action button, or add a short description.
After updating, click the Update Story Collection Button.
Story Layouts
Story Layouts can be found and created by clicking on Layouts in the Design dropdown menu in the main menu.
This layout follows the same steps as creating a regular page. For consistent layouts with varying content, creating a specific layout is recommended. You can also generate a new story from an existing one instead of crafting a layout.
